Director of Nursing
Jo W. is a dedicated nursing leader with 18 years of experience across the full spectrum of care, from long-term care and acute settings to hospice. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing while working full time and raising two young children, a testament to her commitment, resilience, and passion for the profession.
Throughout her career, Jo has served in nearly every nursing role, beginning as a CNA and progressing to charge nurse and leadership positions. She has taught nursing students at DMACC and played a key role in developing and implementing injection safety initiatives that reduced needle-stick injuries while working at Mary Greeley Medical Center.
Jo was drawn to nursing through her close relationship with her grandfather, who raised her and inspired her desire to care for others at the end of life. That experience fostered a lifelong connection to elder care and continues to shape her purpose-driven approach to nursing.
Her leadership style is deeply nurturing and adaptable, grounded in empathy and high standards. Having walked in the shoes of those she leads, Jo believes in setting clear expectations while never asking her team to do anything she wouldn’t do herself. She values respect, growth, and remembering where she started.
Outside of work, Jo enjoys performing with the local theatre troupe and finds creative fulfillment through writing and painting.
Assisted Living Manager
With over 22 years of experience in healthcare, Cassie brings a wealth of knowledge, compassion, and leadership to her role as Assisted Living Manager at Indian Creek Independent & Assisted Living. Her journey began at just 16 years old as a utility worker at the Iowa Veterans’ Home—an early introduction that sparked her lifelong passion for caring for others. By 17, she had earned her CNA certification, followed by her CMA, and has since worn many hats across the industry, each one adding to her deep understanding of resident care.
Cassie’s approach to leadership is rooted in relationship-building. She gets to know each tenant personally, creating an atmosphere where they feel safe, supported, and genuinely cared for. From the care they receive to the environment they live in, Cassie is intentional about every detail that contributes to a relaxed and enjoyable experience.
What drives her each day is knowing she’s making a positive difference in the lives of those she serves. Her tenants aren’t just part of a community—they’re part of her extended family.
